Why Locals Love Espressothek Food Shop
Nestled in the charming Romanstraße neighborhood of München, Espressothek Food Shop offers a warm and inviting retreat for coffee lovers and anyone seeking a cozy café experience. This delightful spot feels less like a bustling city café and more like a welcoming local living room, where the aroma of freshly brewed coffee and the hum of quiet conversation instantly put you at ease.
The heart of Espressothek is undoubtedly its exceptional coffee, sourced from Meran and brewed with care and expertise. As praised by visitors like Jacob, this café transforms even a chilly, rainy day into something comforting and special with the inviting scent and rich flavors of its signature brews. For those who appreciate a well-crafted tea, Espressothek doesn't disappoint: the wide selection of loose leaf teas, carefully timed and brewed to perfection, delivers an authentic and soothing experience, as Elena Shaverdova joyfully notes.
While the menu is simple and unpretentious, the offerings are thoughtfully executed. From freshly made sandwiches to delicious croissants filled with marzipan, each bite is a small indulgence. Sebastian Braun highlights the satisfying potato soup served at lunchtime, calling it a comforting dish worth returning for, demonstrating the café's ability to satisfy beyond just coffee.
More than just a place for food and drink, Espressothek excels as a haven for students and travelers alike. Nasim Shaverdian shared how the friendly environment and welcoming owner made it easy to settle in for hours of study—complete with reliable WiFi and a considerate atmosphere that truly supports focus and relaxation. Meanwhile, Matthew Whiteman was impressed by the attentive service and genuine care extended to visitors, making even young travelers feel right at home while offering helpful local tips worth exploring.
The subtle beauty of Espressothek lies in its authenticity. It resists the temptation to chase trendy, Instagrammable aesthetics, instead crafting an experience centered on comfort, quality, and heartfelt hospitality. Whether you're seeking a quiet nook to read, a friendly stop for a midday break, or simply an honest cup of coffee made with passion, Espressothek Food Shop shines as a genuine gem on Romanstraße.
Parking is conveniently available nearby, making it easy to drop in for a refreshing pause during your day in Munich. With its blend of cozy charm, excellent beverages, and attentive service, Espressothek Food Shop feels less like a café and more like a welcoming extension of the community.

Super friendly environment and a very cozy local coffeespot. I sat here and studied for hours, the owner was kind enough to let me use the wifi while I was studying. I would recommend this place to anyone wanting a quit cozy spot for reading or studying. I only had a coffee and a sandwich during my visit, the coffee was good but I can’t say much about the food.

Incredible service for a bunch of young travellers... Considerate of dietary needs, super friendly table service, and even gave some advice on some local spots to check out! Cups empty and plates cleared faster than you can say dankeschön!

A lovely refuge from a cool rainy day - greeted with a smile and smell of delicious coffee. A cafe with charm and fantastic coffee. Two Australians rate it 5 stars

Very nice and cozy place with a wide selection of loose leaf teas. Teas are brewed according to recommended time, and result is just awesome. Croissants with marzipan are delicious. And barista is very nice Can't help but recommend this place - a rare case when a cafe not trying to be trendy and instagramable is just the best.

The barista was very kind and helpful. I enjoyed the coffee and the mystery feta pastry. Card payment possible.
